Celebrating the memory of our nation's declaration of independence weighs heavily on many of us who have seen our government fall under the seduction of special interests. I hope the day will come when we resurrect a government that represents the people. Is it not our right and our duty to see that happen?

JFK recited the Declaration of Independence in its entirety on July 4th, 1957, from which the audio file in this video originates. (51 years ago...)
With all the dirt, lies, and mudslinging, who would ever be able to truly appreciate another good candidate or leader, if one came along? Would we even know?

The country would know. They'd stick out like a smashed thumb. The real question would be - would they vote for him/her?
Great video.

Outstanding Spade.
There is ONE good candidate that will be running in 2012. A candidate that comes from the working class, and knows the people as he has stood shoulder to shoulder with them in the factories and in the fields. A candidate that was not a member of the elite in civilian or military life. A candidate that knows the difference between wants and needs, diversity and division. A common man with common sense working toward the common goals of the people.
Vote Hamilton in 2012
Common sense is genius, dressed in it's work clothes.

Spadecaller:
I'm struck by the relevance of the words spoken by Mr. Kennedy almost as if he knew, we would need reminding.
How the founding fathers knew we would have the Johnsons', Nixons', Reagans', Bushes'... they studied history. They knew that absolute power corrupted absolutely.
How we have fallen from then to now. The painting of K street. What a true picture of the shameless Harlot politicians have become.
Yes we should celebrate freedom, We should celebrate it by voting and kicking the greedy lying representatives we have now out of office.
Freedom from the ******s the politicians have become. Don't pay them anymore to screw us. Fire them from the president to the mayors and city councilmen.

Gives a whole new meaning to - one can lead a hors4e to water but no one can make him drink - so how does one educated the populace about the rights so many fought and died for, if they refuse to listen?

I know.
Just last week, the supreme court almost rescinded the second amendment.
Pelosi wants to rescind the first amendment with the "Fairness Doctrine" and not a single democrat will sign onto a broadcast freedom act bill.
The only people recieving rights from our government today are illegal immigrants and terrorists.

And some people think that an all white America without any Jews or minorities is what their kind of America should be. These people could hear the words to the Declaration of Independence a thousand times and will never understand them.

Jefferson compressed both a short version of American constitutional theory that justified the struggle for independence and a precis of a revolutionary, republican theory of government. "All men are created equal"; they enjoy "unalienable Rights" (this contradicted arguments by Hobbes and Wm Blackstone that people surrender their natural rights when they leave the state of nature); these rights include "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness" (a liberal and literary improvement on Locke's triad of life, liberty, and property); governments exist to protect those rights; governments are created by "the consent of the governed"

Jefferson's compact theory allows people to retain the right "to alter or to abolish" government when it violates its ends, "to institute new Government" and to secure the people's "Safety and Happiness" (the commonwealth theory).
In their totality, these concepts provided a comprehensive statement of popular sovereignty.
To many of us they are more than just words and memories.

Excellent video again SC. Thanks for sharing it. I am not ordinarily that emotional, but it made my eyes well up a little.( If anyone sees me, I am going to claim it was from the smoke from the brisket I am cooking).
Happy 4th of July to all.

there is little doubt that both Bobby and Jack were assassinated because they were against secret societies.
Now we are stuck with fascist pigs like Bush and Cheney.

I really enjoyed this one. It has made me even more resolved to continue my efforts to change the political climate in my own community. I've been exposing corruption in our mayor's office lately.
