Mann moves up at EMI Music
Jean-Francois Cecillon steps down
The duo will replace industry veteran Jean-Francois Cecillon, who will relinquish his executive roles with EMI next week, but who is in discussions with the company about taking on a senior advisory role.
Guy Hands, executive chairman of EMI Group, said: “I would like to thank JF for his many contributions to EMI. He has consistently delivered on financial targets for his region. He has also nurtured great talent — both artistic and executive — and led a strong and united team over the past four and a half years.”
Cecillon said: “Now the shape of the new organization is complete, the time is right for me to step back. I leave a lot of great friends in EMI and in its extended family of wonderful artists, and I encourage them to make the most of what I believe will be a new phase of opportunity for everyone associated with this great company.”
Mann has been EMI Music’s chief creative officer since the beginning of this year. He will now take on the added A&R role, assuming direct responsibility for artist development in all countries outside North America and the U.K. Mann will work closely with Nick Gatfield, who will join EMI Music as president, A&R labels — North America and U.K., on July 15.
Kassler is a senior executive at EMI parent company Terra Firma, under whom he is credited with leading the successful turnaround of German retail and catering business Tank and Rest.
As part of the managerial shuffle, Nathalie Colin takes over from Cecillon as president and CEO of EMI Music France, while Ashley Unwin will assume Kassler’s former duties as EMI Music president, U.K. and Ireland.
